Courtney was interested in our family’s desire to educate others in hopes that we can help save lives. On December 27, 2008 our family suffered a great loss. We lost a daughter and little sister from playing “The Choking Game”. Her name was Jenny and she was 17 years old. She was beautiful, bright, kind to all, and above all else she was a godly young lady.

We believe that peers may have influenced Jenny to believe that this ‘game’ was her ticket to acceptance and that there was nothing wrong with it. This ‘game’ robbed her of a long life and left us with a huge hole in our hearts and lives.

It is the desire of our family to help educate adolescents about the dangers of this game and also teach parents and educators about the warning signs to watch for. In talking with adolescents, we have found that far too many have heard of this game (estimated 86%) and that far too few parents have a clue that this game exists (estimated 24%). We are currently working with the Pasadena Police Department, through their DARE program; local churches, and the Pasadena ISD Police in talking with anyone who will listen.

I strongly urge you to contact us if you would like us to visit your school, church, organization, or simply your child. We are committed to saving as many lives as possible through education.

Jenny’s goal in life was to be a Good Samaritan. Through her death, we hope that we can be the vehicle God uses to fulfill this life dream of hers. Please contact us by email if you are interested.
